Journey to the East rhythmically organises an array of well-known characters from different cultures, civilisations, religions and time periods into an ongoing procession, a harmonious journey residing outside of time and space.
The inspiration for this drawing is from my experience of walking through the British Museum, which seems like crossing a whole past and present world. The artwork draws on the motif of a book because books are another form to record this world.
The first coloured page design is an eye in the universe. It looks like God overlooking everything happening in the world. Connected to the last coloured page, they complete the whole procession and produce a whole book.
