PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Because of the passion for drawing, I attended a volunteer work in this year’s selected process of Jerwood Drawing Prize. I both worked for the dates of the judgment and withdrawal. The requirement  for every volunteer is rigorous and profession—we need to receive a training. Although the work was hard and sometimes boring because of too inflexible, I accumulated a new and precious experience about how to develop an art prize selection, including the knowledge of the collection, catalogue, and cooperation. I appreciated the respected attitude to every piece of artwork.

Getting some inspired and fresh points from the judges was also an expectancy before I began the work. However, it was difficult to listen clearly to what they were discussing. We could make some suppositions of their selected criteria based on the length of their staying and the final selections. I felt that the art competitions, especially with a huge group of applicants, need both the good quality of artwork and the luck. We could not guarantee the luck but could make sure our efforts.
