COLLABORATION

Cast:

Time: 13,30  15/03/2016

Location: 51°25'23.7"N 0°13'17.7"W

The location is in the middle of the Murray Road. The surface is full of cracks. It is a track made by tyre marks and also by time flowing. It looks like a wound in the earth.

2D object:

Band-Aid® and eye drops are both from China. They are prepared by my mother before I came to London. These two small objects are a piece of love from my family. And now I deliver this love to this lovely city.

project overview:

the concept and form of this whole project is from artist Antony Dixon, and the independent piece of artwork is from different involved artists from MFA course.

Both offside and workshop’s cooperate work.

The most interested point of this cooperate project is that we need use the specially appointed way - casting with 2D objects - to express our concepts. It is totally the opposite process of creation, however, it opens a fresh viewpoint to meet another art working method. It is also a memorable experience for me because I need to casting in the middle of the road. With the team's help, the casting was finished successfully.

As a shared space since 1949, Cannizaro Park has transitioned from singular ownership to collective ownership. A place that is now open to all to cross its boundary and enjoy. With this work I am interested in exploring people’s movement across territories and how connections to other territories can be made through this migration.

Working with a group of artists, we each made a 16”sq cast of the ground. Points between Cannizaro Park, Wimbledon Library and Wimbledon College of Arts were chosen to cast. In the surface of each cast the artist has place a 2D object. The time place of each cast has been recorded alongside the time and place of the artist’s original encounter with the 2D object. Additionally, a copy of the 2D object has been placed in the location of the cast.

Corridor Exhibition Program

Corridor Exhibition is a memorable experience. How to cooperate with other artists is a new question for me because I always finish my artwork independently. The collaboration with artist Antony Dixon was pleasant and profitable.

Firstly, after researching the space, a long corridor linking with our studio and the main building, I made a plan of creating "one step" crossing the whole passage. Then we talked about the cooperation methods. We decided to choose similar colours and a map element but still keep our individual research direction.

This show has both effects of harmony and strong personal artistic style.

War & Peace Video Program

                                   War & Peace

script writing

A video workshop with artist Kimathi Donkor was a significant challenge for us because of limited time and an unfamiliar medium. We were randomly divided into four groups and we each created one complete film with the theme of war & peace.

Artist Fiona Mountney and I were charged with script writing in our group. We are both adept in different areas; for myself, visual script design, and Fiona, describing into words. This video workshop was a good experience of cooperation. Each team member was responsible for their position and worked together to solve problems during the progress of the film.
